The magnificent ski region of Arlberg, Austria
Ski Arlberg, located in the breathtaking Alps, offers an unparalleled skiing experience that attracts enthusiasts from around the globe. During the second week of January 2025, I had the pleasure of exploring this ski haven for three days, utilizing my Epic Pass.
Zurs am Arlberg, Austria
Day 1: Zurs to St. Anton
Our journey started in Zurs, where we were greeted by spectacular weather that made for perfect skiing conditions. The runs were impeccably groomed, allowing for an exhilarating ski from Zurs to St. Anton. Midway, we decided to take a break at Hotel Arlmont, known for its warm atmosphere and scenic views. There, I indulged in a delicious Kaizerschmarrn, a traditional Austrian pancake dish that’s a must-try for any skier. Refueled and ready, we continued on our route, enjoying the stunning surroundings that Ski Arlberg is famous for.

Day 2: Lech, the White Ring Race, and Warth
On our second day, we skied towards Lech, where the slopes were alive with skiers participating in the White Ring race. This iconic event is a popular ski circuit that attracts a multitude of competitors each year, making its way through various picturesque villages in the region. Pathways through the gorgeous terrain were lined with spectators, adding to the vibrant atmosphere and sense of community.

After soaking in the excitement, we crossed over to Warth, where we encountered some decent powder snow off piste. The soft snow allowed for some exhilarating runs as we carved our way through the vast terrain.
Day 3: Skiing Zurs and Stuben
On our final day, we dedicated ourselves to exploring the local ski areas of Zurs and Stuben, each boasting a variety of ski routes that cater to different skill levels. Zurs offers a well-groomed network of runs, with a mix of gentle slopes and steeper descents. In Stuben, the focus shifts to more expansive terrain with the opportunity for off-piste skiing, especially in the less crowded areas near the Albona lift. The highlight here is the descent down to the valley, where more experienced skiers can take on the ski routes that lead from the peak, offering exhilarating drops and rugged conditions.
As our ski adventure came to an end, we opted for the convenience of taking the train back to Zurich. In just two hours, we found ourselves in the heart of the city, reflecting on what was an unforgettable experience at Ski Arlberg. With its stunning landscapes, excellent snow conditions, and welcoming atmosphere, it is clear why this destination is celebrated among winter sports lovers.
